Instant Technologies (“Instant”) of Beverly, Massachusetts today announced the availability of its Instant TeamMessenger 2.0, the latest in its suite of IBM and Microsoft real-time collaboration integration software. With today’s announcement, Instant brings the goal of real-time collaboration and ubiquitous presence closer for Microsoft Outlook users. While in Microsoft Outlook, Instant TeamMessenger 2.0 provides users with the award winning real-time, secure messaging and presence found in IBM Lotus Instant Messaging (formerly IBM Lotus Sametime).

When an Outlook user views an email, Instant TeamMessenger 2.0 automatically displays who is on-line from the To, From, and CC fields. The Outlook user can then instantly initiate either a one-on-one or group chat without leaving Outlook. This “contextual collaboration” (on-line awareness based on the content of your application) helps to facilitate decision making in real-time. Colleagues who are working on projects together have the ability to communicate instantly about shared documents or e-mail.

“With Instant TeamMessenger 2.0, Instant transforms Microsoft Office into a goal-oriented collaboration suite by making visible the appropriate project members, corporate data and other network-based information at the appropriate time, in the appropriate application, precisely when it is relevant to the task at hand,” said Tim Sloane, Research Director within Aberdeen's Enterprise and Internet Infrastructure practice. “By bringing instant messaging and presence into Microsoft Office, Instant has carved itself a unique and sustainable position within the Enterprise Instant Messaging market.”

“Instant Technologies is bringing integration between e-mail, instant messaging and presence awareness to Microsoft users, the value of which IBM Lotus Notes users have long understood.” said Frances West, Director of Worldwide Channels, Alliances and Business Development, IBM Lotus Software. “With Instant TeamMessenger 2.0, Instant Technologies demonstrates its innovative leadership in the use of the advanced IBM Lotus Instant Messaging development environment by enabling users of Microsoft desktop applications to dramatically improve the business processes and collaborative capabilities of their organizations.”

“At Instant, we see tremendous value integrating enterprise instant messaging with pervasive business applications. This integration enables people and teams to communicate more effectively and leverage both IT assets and shared knowledge,” said Tim Browne, CEO of Instant Technologies
